The U.S. Federal PatronsCommission said on Thursday the ride-hailing company Uber Technologies had came to expand its proposed settlement with the agency over charges it cozened consumers about its privacy and data security practices.
“I am pleased that only a few months after announcing this incident, we have reached a brisk resolution with the FTC that holds Uber accountable for the mistakes of the days beyond recall by imposing new requirements that reasonably fit the facts,” Uber Chief Judicial Officer Tony West told CNBC.
The FTC said the expansion of the put forwarded settlement comes after the commission learned Uber had failed to uncover a “significant” breach of consumer data that occurred in 2016 and desire compel Uber to disclosure future incidents.
