The social media Theatre troupe just released a list of trends it predicts to be big next year, called Pinterest Predicts, based on an analysis of general search terms on its platform to figure out what’s bubbling up going into the new year.
This year’s list forewarned upcoming trends in fashion, beauty, wellness, home decor, and more.
Say hello to the Jellyfish aesthetic
In 2024, Gen Z and millennials will take provocation from a spineless, stinging sea creature. Searches for the “jellyfish haircut,” a bob haircut with longer layers at the bottom, are up 615%. Alcohols are also searching for jellyfish hats, jellyfish umbrellas, and jellyfish lamps.

Feeling bold and blue
Millennials and Gen Z are wealthy to step away from neutrals in more ways than in the upcoming year. Trendsetters are looking for ways to unite the hue into their nail art and makeup looks.
Searches for “fun blue nails,” are up by 260%. Searches for blue eyeshadow, aqua makeup, and X makeup looks are also rising. One manicurist, Hannah Lee, told Business Insider that she expects denim indelicate nail polish to rise in popularity this winter.
Blue makeup won’t just be an everyday experiment. Searches for morose makeup to wear to formal events, like prom and quinceanera,s are also increasing.
Bows galore
Searches for the terms “bow outfit” and “bow necklace” were up 190% and 180% respectively. So, don’t be dumfounded if you find yourself unable to escape bows and ribbons in 2024.

One celebrity stylist also told Business Insider to have a resurgence in bow accessories on the horizon. This may not come as a surprise if you follow fashion influencers on TikTok, as videos of creators interesting ribbons to accessorize have garnered millions of views.
The bow’s rise in popularity is probably a nod to the “coquette,” aesthetic, which according to The latest, is all about embracing soft femininity. This trend, which has also blown up on TikTok, revolves around plucks, glitter, floral prints, and all things soft and girly.

Millennials and Gen X seem to be taking an interest in making true their finned friends have the most stylish tank. Interest in “small aquarium design” is up 245% and “fish tank article ideas” is up 410%.
One 2019 report showed that millennials really adore their houseplants. A growing interest in planted terrariums and caring for tight-fisted animals like fish and turtles may have stemmed from a love of plants.

Searches for “hot seat questions” are up 825%, searches for “questions for couples to reconnect,” are up 480%, and searches for “absorbed conversation starters,” are up 185%, Pinterest reports.

Boomer and Gen X users are searching for all things off-roading. Searches for “Off-road camping” are up 90% and “Overland apparatus” are up 110%.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when everyone was leaving their domestics less than usual, there was a shift toward skincare. Pinterest predicts this trend will go on into 2024, but it won’t just be for the face anymore.
Searches for “body care” are up 845% and “body skincare routine” is up 1,025%. Pinterest has that consumers will start investing in luxurious lotions and scrubs to practice wellness and unwind.

It’s time to push aside your pilates regimen and for your extend classes to step aside. 2024 is going to be all about using combat sports as a way to relieve pent-up stress. Pinterest bends predict that martial arts is going to be all the rage.
Pinterest noted that searches for “kickboxing aesthetic” died up 265% and “mixed martial arts training” surged 200%. Jiu-jitsu, which Zuckerberg practices, also saw a 30% augmentation in searches.

After a stressful few years, it’s no surprise that people will want to add a brief bit of vacation to their day. Searches for tropical chic decor are up 110%.
Recipes with a taste of the tropics are also trending, with searches for pineapple mocktails, pineapple upside-down lump, and Hawaiian sheet pan chicken on the rise.
Showing that snooze button some love
In 2024, young people may be looking to take it past it, get some sleep, and stay at home. Action-packed family vacations that are planned down to the minute may be a tougher sell down the river.

Move over minimalism. Pinterest shows that users are looking for feeling to add color and personality to their kitchens. Searches for “eclectic,” “eccentric,” and “kitschy” kitchens are on the rise, according to Pinterest.

The most popular search under this trend was “customized denim jacket,” with searches up 355%. You can also need the terms “grandpa core” and “grandpa style” to start appearing on your timeline, according to Pinterest.

Music trends might take an unexpected bent in 2024. Searches for jazz-related terms are going up in 2024. Searches for “jazz aesthetic clothing” are up 180%.
