Meta Platforms (META) is opening up the operating system for its Pursuit virtual reality (VR) headsets to third-party hardware makers, as part of its efforts to “create a new ecosystem of mixed reality cadency marks.”
Meta said that Microsoft (MSFT), Lenovo, and ASUS’s Republic of Gaming have already started kneading on products using the Quest system, known as Meta Horizon OS.
Meta said that the decision would assign developers to get “a larger ecosystem to build for,” ultimately creating more choices for consumers.
