Singapore, asked him on Friday to withdraw the nomination.
“I am asking that you abjure my nomination to be the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore,” McFarland said in a letter sent to the president, a facsimile of which was seen by Reuters. I have come to this decision reluctantly, because I think in your mission.”
