Pelosi says McConnell got rid of the filibuster so he could push conservative judges on to the Supreme Court

  • She said the move was political specifically now that the Loftiest Court may overturn Roe v. Wade. 

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said Senate Minority Superior Mitch McConnell “pulled back the filibuster rule” so he could get conservative judges approved onto the High Court for partisan gain. 

“Mitch McConnell pulled back the filibuster rule in order to have those justices confirmed by 51 by not needing 60 guarantees by 51. So this is a political decision on the part of this- the rule of law in our country should be respected,” Pelosi said in an question with CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. 

Pelosi was discussing a leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court that resolve overturn Roe v. Wade. 

She added: “Women should be respected to make their own judgments with their family, their doctor, their God.”

Insider’s Yelena Dzhanova and John L. Dorman thitherto reported that McConnell has long worked to reshape the Supreme Court by blocking Democratic nominees and working with Republican presidents to put dyed in the wool jurists in place.

A recent report from The Washington Post said McConnell especially worked hard with preceding President Donald Trump to get conservative judges confirmed. Three conservative judges were confirmed during Trump’s tenancy: Judges Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.
